TurnKey Mibew Live CD is an open source Linux distribution based on the highly acclaimed Debian GNU/Linux operating system. It is specifically tailored for people who are looking for a free and easy-to-use solution for deploying dedicated Mibew servers.
Mibew (also known as Open Web Messenger) is an open source real-time, one-on-one chat assistance solution for websites. The appliance comes with all of the upstream Mibew configurations, which are installed by default in /var/www/mibew.
Key features include the TurnKey Web Control panel, which provides testers with an embedded chat button, out-of the-box support for secure connections using the latest SSL implementation, a Postfix mail server for sending email messages to users.
In addition, the appliance includes the phpMyAdmin administration front-end for easy management of MySQL databases, which listens on port 12322 and uses SSL, as well as various Webmin modules for configuring Apache, MySQL, Postfix and PHP.
It is distributed as Live CD ISO images, which are designed for users who want to deploy the Mibew software on a local computer, as well as virtual machine images for those who want to deploy it on the cloud, compatible with the Xen, OpenStack, OVF, OpenVZ and OpenNode virtualization technologies.
A typical installation, using the Live CD ISO images, will take approximately 5 minutes. It will require users to only setup the disk drive and choose where to install the boot loader. The default username for the SSH, Webmin, phpMyAdmin and MySQL components is root, and the default Mibew username is admin.
After installation, it is a must to enter new passwords for the root (system administrator) account, as well as for the MySQL 'root' account, and the Mibew 'admin' account. At the end of the first boot configuration process, the active services for the Mibew appliance will be displayed at a glance.
