Entropy GNU/Linux

Entropy GNU/Linux (formerly Less Systemd GNU/Linux) is an independent and open source distribution of Linux designed from the ground up to provide users with an operating system that is really pure, features no multilib cruft and no point-to-point releases.

Features at a glance

Key features include a Source BSD-style system initialization, a smart package manager, a Linux kernel package compiled from Zen sources, a true rolling-release model.

Another interesting thing is that the distribution isn’t based on any existing operating system, as it has been created from scratch. Furthermore, it is a Linux distribution that features multiple editions with different graphical desktop environments.

Distributed in multiple editions as Live CDs

This tiny operating system is distributed into multiple edition, with the KDE and Xfce desktop environments. It can be downloaded as a Live CD ISO image that contains software packages optimized only for 32-bit (i686) hardware platforms.

Boot options

Default boot options include the ability to start the operating system in live or interactive modes, by copying the contents of the ISO image to RAM (system memory) and eject the bootable medium, in failsafe mode (safe graphics mode).

In addition, the user can start the installer directly and permanently install the operating system on a local drive, repair an existing installation that is no longer bootable, boot an existing OS from the first or second disk drives, as well as to reboot or shutdown the computer.
