AgiliaLinux (formerly MOPSLinux) is an open source distribution of Linux derived from the Slackware operating system and developed by members of the Russian community. It is equipped with a custom installer, an easy-to-use package manager and the classic GNOME desktop environment.
The distribution supports 32-bit and 64-bit architectures
This Slackware-based distribution has been engineered to support 32-bit and 64-bit instruction set architectures, which means that it will be bootable and installable on both old and modern computers.
Supports English and Russian languages
Even though it was created by the Russian community and using Russian as the default language, the distro also supports English, selectable from the boot menu.
Default boot options include the ability to start the live system with standard drivers, with the Nouveau driver for Nvidia GPUs, in safe graphics mode, with the the xf86-video-modesettings option, or by copying the contents of the ISO image to RAM (requires at least 4GB of system memory).
In addition, it is possible to boot an existing operating system from the local drive, perform a system memory diagnostic test or start the installer directly.
Uses a beautified, yet traditional graphical desktop environment
As mentioned, the default and only desktop environment of AgiliaLinux is GNOME, which uses a traditional layout comprised of a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen.
Includes a plethora of open source applications
Weighing no less than 3GB in size, for each ISO image, the distribution includes a plethora of open source applications, among which we can mention SMPlayer, Viewnior, GIMP, SimpleBurn, Claws Mail, Mozilla Firefox, FileZilla, uGet, and many others.
Bottom line
Summing up, AgiliaLinux is a neat Slackware-based operating system that features a modified text-mode installer, which includes installation classes, an advanced package manager software called mpkg, and support for several popular graphical desktop environments.
