4MDoom is an easy-to-use, freely distributed, minimal, bootable and open source Live Linux distribution based on the 4MLinux operating system. It is built around Freedoom, a free/open-source clone of the old-school Doom FPS (First-Person Shooter) game for personal computers.
Distributed as a dual-arch Live CD
The 4MDoom distro is available for download as a dual-arch and hybrid Live CD ISO image that has only 50MB in size and can be booted on either 32 or 64-bit computers. Users will be able to write the ISO image to either CD discs, Mini CD discs, or USB thumb drives, using the appropriate software.
Boot options
Like many other Live CDs, this one has a boot menu that allows users to choose between starting the live system with normal configuration or in safe graphics mode, with the VESA framebuffer. Please note that if you don’t press a key for 10 seconds from the moment the boot menu appears on your screen, the first option will be automatically activated.
Relive the good 'ol days of Doom
With the 4MDoom Live CD you will definitely relive the good ‘ol days of Doom on your personal computer. A demo of the game will be presented at a glance once the Live CD boots, a process that shouldn’t take more than 10 seconds.
The Live CD includes dedicated video drives for your Nvidia or AMD graphics card. However, if these are incompatible with your video card, the 2D drivers will load instead. The first phase of Freedoom will be automatically loaded. Then, after quitting the first phase, the second one will be loaded.
Finally, after quitting the second phase of the game, you will be able to adjust the game volume using the integrated ALSA Mixer utility. To return to Freedoom after adjusting the volume, press the ESC (Escape) key on your keyboard.
