GAdmin-Rsync is a completely free and open source graphical software implemented in C around the GTK+ toolkit and designed to provide users with an easy-to-use GUI (Graphical User Interface) front-end for rsync

Rsync is a serve/client command-line program designed for creating backups under any GNU/Linux operating system. GAdmin-Rsync has been tailored specifically for new GNU/Linux users who hate working with command-line programs.

Supports multiple backup sets

The application supports multiple backup sets, which can be easily configured to be executed at specified time via cron. But the catch is that each backup set contains multiple local and remote data backups. Additionally, it supports rsync server configuration, allows users to view and modify log files of specified backup sets.

Getting started with GAdmin-Rsync

Its graphical user interface is easy-to-use and intuitive, allowing users to create a new backup and choose between three backup types (local backup, local to remote backup and remote to local backup), select the source and destination directories for the backup from the get-go.

The interface uses tabs to let users easily navigate between different view modes, such as Backup settings, Backup progress, Disc and Server settings. It will display the version of the rsync program used to create backups and various other settings in a single window.

After setting up your first backup, you can add backup data, create a new backup, save backups, delete backups, remove backup data, cancel a backup, select backups, restore files from an existing backup or start the backup process.

Runs on GNU/Linux, but can be ported to other UNIX-like OSes

GAdmin-Rsync will well on all GNU/Linux distributions, but it can also be easily ported to any other UNIX-like operating system, such as FreeBSD or Mac OS X. It has been successfully tested on 64-bit and 32-bit computers.

What is new in this release:

  • Using nonblocking io channels.
  • Reads the full output of rsync's --progress option showing speed and percentage for each action.

What is new in version 0.1.6:

  • Channels to read binary output including non-UTF-8 chars are allowed.

What is new in version 0.1.5:

  • The program can now restore from backups.
  • It switches to the progress tab when a backup or
  • restore is started and adds progress start text.
  • Dry run is selectable for restore operations.
  • Backup at system shutdown is now supported but is
  • probably not rock solid atm. Input on this would be nice. Sets status color and missing programs color. Desktop menu is also added to the servers and internet sections. Added more help window contents. Vector indexing fixes.

What is new in version 0.1.4:

  • Added better ssh/scp failure handling.

What is new in version 0.1.3:

  • Using posix_openpt(); instead of getpt();
  • To support FreeBSD and BSD like systems.
  • (Thanks to Jurgen Dankoweit).

What is new in version 0.1.1:

  • Added an extended log viewer.
  • Fixed combo box signal emissions when deleting backups. Unifies the backup name filter.
  • Allows for synchronization as regular remote user.

Requirements:

  • gtk+
