Apache Thrift is a wonderful tool that smooths out differences between various platforms and programming mediums, allowing developers to create applications that can push data around various programming languages and deliver outstanding, high-performance results.

Thrift at its core is nothing more than a basic networking stack that will take data its being fed and process it using one of its programming language bindings.

The entire concept is simple, but it can get pretty convoluted if you don't read the installation and usage instructions. So make sure to do that.

Thrift was originally developed at Facebook, but is now open source and is part of the Apache Software Foundation.
