VoIPonCD is an open source, free and easy to install operating system derived from the award-winning and highly acclaimed Debian GNU/Linux distribution. With this project you will be able to transform a regular computer into a stable and reliable VoIP PBX (Private Branch Exchange) system powered by Asterisk.
Distributed as an installable-only ISO image
As its name suggests, VoIPonCD provides users with a VoIP solution on a CD. This means that the operating system is distributed as an installable-only ISO image that you can write on a CD disc or a USB flash drive, and then boot it from the BIOS of a computer.
Minimalist boot menu
The Live CD boot menu uses a minimalist design, built around the idea that the user should not be prompted with unneeded boot options, allowing him or her to immediately start the installation. Pressing the F1 key will display a list of available boot options.
Uses a text-mode installer
The distribution uses a text-mode installer in the style of the Ubuntu Alternate CD, requiring users to choose the language uses for the installation process and the final system, choose a country, territory or area, select a keyboard layout, partition the disk, select software to install, as well as to install a bootloader and set a password for the root (system administrator account).
It is no longer under active development
Be aware that the VoIPonCD is no longer under active development, which means that the pre-installed software packages are very old, as well as the Ubuntu base. Because of this, it has been archived for historical references purposes only.
