TurnKey eZ publish Live CD is a free and open source distribution of Linux specifically designed for people who are looking for an easy-to-use-and-install solution for deploying dedicated eZ publish servers with minimum effort and without paying for expensive products.
eZ publish is an open source web-based CMS (Content Management System) software that features content versioning, search and printing, role-based rights management, sitemaps, media library, and mobile development.
Key features include all of the upstream eZ publish configurations, which are installed by default in /var/www/ezpublish, support for secure connections via SSL, a Postfix mail server, the phpMyAdmin administration front-end, as well as Webmin modules for configuring PHP, MySQL, Postfix and Apache.
When using this appliance to deploy eZ publish, users should keep in mind a few facts: the default username for the Webmin, phpMyAdmin, SSH and MySQL components is root, the default eZ publish username is admin, the Postfix MTA is bound to localhost, and phpMyAdmin listens on port 12322 via SSL.
For users' convenience, the appliance is distributed as Live CD ISO images and virtual machine images. While the Live CDs can be used to try or install the operating system on a computer, the VMs are designed to deploy it on a cloud server that uses the Xen, OpenStack, OpenVZ, OVF or OpenNode virtualization technologies.
Installing the eZ publish appliance with the Live CDs is easy as pie, as users will only be asked to choose a partitioning scheme and where to install the boot loader. After installation, users will be able to set new passwords for the root and MySQL 'root' accounts, as well as a valid email address and new password for the eZ publish 'admin' account, and the domain to serve eZ publish.
At the end of the first boot setup process, the appliance will display the active services (SSH, SFTP, phpMyAdmin, Web Shell, Webmin), so don't forget to note their IP addresses and ports.
