The "Subscribe Better" plugin works the following way. Instead of pestering users to sign-up for a newsletter or whatever you may want them to subscribe to by showing a popup as soon as they land on your page, Subscribe Better defers this action for later.
The Subscribe Better modal appears only after the user has navigated to the end of the page and started scrolling back up again.
This action is taken as the user has read all the content on the page and is ready to navigate to another link.
Normally this is the best moment to ask users to subscribe to your site, since they've already consumed your content and they might be willing to give up their email because they already know what to expect.
Of course if you want to be a jerk and annoy your users you can still load the Subscribe Better modal on page load, since that's an option in the plugin's parameters as well.
Other options include the ability to auto close, to show the modal only once, to allow it to be scrolled in case of large content, and the ability to modify the modal's animation routine.
A Subscribe Better demo is included with the download package.
