Soundboard is an open source and multi-platform graphical application written in the Java programming language and designed to allow users to build and execute sound cues for theatrical performance.

With Soundboard, users will be able to easily create elegant designs, with a combination of simple cue types, resume cues, fade, pause and stop, which can be executed with a single mouse click.

Supports popular audio file formats

Another interesting feature is that the application supports numerous common audio formats, including MP3, OGG and WAV. In addition, the graphical user interface is straightforward and simple to use.

When opening the software for the first time, you will immediately notice that the application is extremely easy to use. All you have to do is to add media files and hit the big GO! button. Of course, you will be able to change the volume and the sound balance, add notes, edit show info, export cue sheets, renumber cues.

Basic editing functionality is also implemented, such as cut, copy, paste, save and save as. In additon, basic audio manipulation functionality like stop, pause, resume, delete and fade.

For the user’s convenience, the application is distributed as a universal archive in the zip file format, which can be used on all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. The archive includes both the app’s source code and pre-built binaries. It has been successfully tested with both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms.

Being written entirely in the Java programming language and using the Java Swing technology for its graphical user interface, Soundboard is a platform-independent application that works on any operating system where the Java Runtime Environment is installed, including GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X.

  • This version adds many bugfixes which increase overall stability of the program, and a few new features to make it easier to use.

What is new in version 2.0 Beta 3:

  • This beta release corrects several bugs, including those leading to corrupted media files, and adds new features, including support for Ogg-Vorbis files among other things.
