SERVOS Professional is a freely distributed and open source operating system based on the fast and minimal Slax distribution, which in turn is based on the highly acclaimed Slackware Linux OS. It is built around the old-school KDE 3.5 desktop environment.
Available for download as a dual-arch Live CD
Nothing professional here, as the distribution is available for download as a single, dual-arch Live CD ISO image of approximately 350MB in size, which means that it doesn’t include too many software packages. However, it runs well on both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms.
Professional looking boot menu
We have to admin that the boot menu looks professional and it allows the users to start the live environment with support for HD graphics or by using the VESA framebuffer (safe graphics mode) for older computers, start a fresh session, copy the contents of the disc to RAM, as well as to perform a system memory diagnostic test.
Traditional desktop environment powered by KDE 3.5
Even if the SERVOS Professional developer tried to keep a clean and organized desktop environment, with beautiful effects and just the right applications, we have to admit that there’s nothing professional about the graphical interface of this Linux distribution. It is a simple and old KDE 3.5 desktop environment that uses a single-panel layout.
Includes standard KDE-specific applications
Once again, the preinstalled application are not professional at all. The distro includes standard open source apps that are also available in a wide range of KDE-based operating systems, among which we can mention Konqueror web browser, KMail email client, Akregator news reader, K3b CD/DVD burning software, and many others.
Bottom line
We are sorry to say, but SERVOS Professional is not a professional operating system. However, it is indeed created in a professional style, when compared with many other Linux distribution that aren’t even worth downloading.
