Restkit

It implements all the REST operations in Pyhton code and allows to easily access HTTP resources and build objects around them.

Restkit the base of couchdbkit a Python CouchDB framework and was developed as a full HTTP client.

It does not use httplib or urllib2 and utilizes pure socket calls and its own HTTP parser.
