Through a very well-designed product Adobe has managed to create an industry standard for via its Photoshop tool.
While initially released for simple image editing tasks, Photoshop has managed to place itself at the heart of Web design, thanks to its layering feature that made it ideal for designing icons, site layouts, favicons, backgrounds, mobile apps, etc..
And for the amount of love and respect it was getting from designers and developers alike, PSD files were still unsupported in browsers across the World.
PSD.js fixes this problem by providing a way to parse PSD file metadata and even allowing users to preview PSD files right inside their browser, just like they do with normal images.
Keep an eye on this tool, it might find its way in the core of many Web-based image editing apps pretty soon.
