PrimeE17 (also known as PrimeE17 Enlightenment e17) is an open source distribution of Linux derived from the award winning and highly acclaimed Debian GNU/Linux operating system and built around the modern and futuristic Enlightenment window manager/desktop environment.
It is based on Debian Sid and supports only 64-bit computers
Currently, the PrimeE17 operating system is based on the 64-bit edition of the Debian Unstable (also known as Sid) distribution. It is available for download as a Live DVD ISO image that has been archived with the bz2 compression method and can be used only on computers that support the 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architecture.
The live system is booted automatically in 10 seconds
The Live DVD has been instructed to boot the live system with the default kernel in exactly ten seconds from the moment the user boots it from the BIOS of a computer using either a DVD disc or a USB thumb drive of 2GB or higher capacity. It is also possible to start the live system in safe graphics mode, run a memory test or boot an existing OS from the local drive.
Enlightenment E17 looks astonishing, modern and productive
By default, users will be dropped to a login screen where they must use the “primee17” username and “guest” password (without quotes) in order to log into the Enlightenment session, which looks astonishing, modern and productive at the same time. It uses a dock (application launcher) on the bottom edge of the screen and various desktop widgets.
Contains a great set of open source applications
Default applications include the Iceweasel and Mozilla Firefox web browsers, the entire LibreOffice office suite, Leafpad text editor, PCManFM file manager, Xarchiver archive manager, XSane image scanning software, GIMP image editor, XTerm and LXTerminal terminal emulators, KSnapshot screen capture program, Synaptic Package Manager and Remastersys.
