n00bix is a free and open source Linux operating system based on the award winning and widely used Debian GNU/Linux distribution and built around the modern-looking Enlightenment window manager as its default and only graphical desktop environment.
Available for download as 32-bit and 64-bit Live DVDs
This custom Debian-based distribution of Linux is available for download as 32-bit and 64-bit Live DVD ISO images. The noob user will have to write the ISO image to a blank DVD disc or a USB flash drive of 2GB or higher capacity in order to boot the OS from the BIOS of a computer.Minimal and non-interactive boot menu
Being designed for noobs, the Live DVD will not allow users to interact with the boot menu, as it will automatically start the live environment with default boot options. It is also possible to install the operating system on a local disk drive.Fancy and easy to use desktop environment powered by Enlightenment
The Enlightenment desktop environment looks fancy and it’s easy to use. It features a taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen, from where the noob user can launch applications, interact with running programs and cycle between virtual workspaces. The main menu can be accessed from the taskbar or by left clicking anywhere on the desktop.Includes noob friendly open source applications
As expected, the distribution includes noob friendly open source applications, such as the Geary email client, Google Chrome web browser, Goggles Music Manager, GNU Paint digital painting program, LibreOffice office suite, Shotwell image viewer and organizer, VLC Media Player, Xfburn CD/DVD burning tool and Synaptic Package Manager.Bottom line
