MONOMAXOS

MONOMAXOS is an open source and completely free operating system derived from the widely used and award winning Ubuntu Linux distribution and designed for Greek-speaking users.

Supports both English and Greek languages

The OS is distributed as Live DVD ISO images in two editions, one that supports the English language and another one that supports the Greek language. Both ISO images support the 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures.

The Live DVDs feature advanced boot options

From the boot menu, which will appear immediately after booting the Live DVD from the BIOS of a computer, the user can start the live system in normal mode, text only mode, debug mode or safe graphics mode, perform a memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot an existing OS from the local drive.

Beautiful and modern graphical desktop environment

The MONOMAXOS distribution uses a beautiful and modern graphical desktop environment that comprises of a dock (application launcher) located on the bottom edge of the screen, allowing the user to quickly access his or her favorite apps.

Contains top-notch applications

There are numerous applications pre-installed in MONOMAXOS. Among some of the most important ones, we can mention the VLC Media Player, Mozilla Firefox web browser, LibreOffice office suite, Skype VoIP client, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, HomeBank personal finance manager and XBMC Media Center.

In addition, the Brasero CD/DVD burning software, OpenShot video editor, Audacity audio player, xVideoServiceThief online video downloader, ISO Master CD image editor, AcidRip DVD-Video ripper, SopCast player, Google Chrome web browser, FileZilla FTP client and Transmission torrent downloader are also included.

Recommended hardware requirements

In order to use the MONOMAXOS operating system, you will need a computer with a 2GHz x86 processor or better, at least 512MB of RAM (system memory), at least 5GB free disk space, a graphics card capable of 1024x768 resolution and with at least 64MB of RAM, a compatible sound card and an active network or Internet connection.

What is new in this release:
