Micro-R OS Studios Images

Micro-R OS Studios Images is a special edition of the Micro-R OS Linux distribution oriented towards artists who manipulate images on a daily basis (photographers, designers, etc.). It is derived from the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu, and designed especially for French-speaking users.

Distributed as a 64-bit Live DVD

The Studios Image edition of Micro-R OS Linux is the first of two special Studios flavors, designed for photographers and designers who are looking for a free computer operating system to process images. It is available for download as a single Live DVD ISO image that has approximately 3 GB in size and supports only 64-bit (x86_64) computers.

Standard boot options

The Live DVD boot menu of Micro-R OS Studios Images is identical with the one of other Micro-R OS editions, designed to allow the user to start the live system with normal configuration or in safe graphics mode, start the installer directly, perform a system memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot an existing OS from the first disk drive detected by the BIOS.

Cinnamon is the default desktop environment

Just like any other Micro-R OS edition, the Studios Images flavor includes two desktop environments, Cinnamon and GNOME Fallback (GNOME Classic). The former is the default one, while the latter can be easily selected from the login prompt, where you must use the “micro-r” password (without quotes) to log into the graphical environment.

The Cinnamon desktop environment looks modern and traditional at the same time, comprised of a semi-transparent panel located on the bottom edge of the screen. The panel includes various useful applets that allow users to launch their favorite apps quickly, interact with active programs, access essential system functions, as well as to cycle between virtual workspaces.

Includes a wide range of image processing programs
