MakuluLinux LxFce

MakuluLinux LxFce is a special edition of the MakuluLinux operating system that offers a unique desktop environment which combines elements from the well-known LXDE and Xfce projects.

MakuluLinux is a distribution derived from the world's most popular free operating system, Ubuntu. The LxFce edition of MakuluLinux was created for users who are bored with the standard desktop environments and want something entirely different.

Distributed as a 64-bit Live DVD

The MakuluLinux LxFce operating system is currently distributed as a Live DVD ISO image that contains software packages optimized only for modern, 64-bit machines. The ISO image is hybrid, so you can write it to either a USB thumb drive or a DVD disc, which you can use to boot into the live system or install the distribution on your computer.

Boot options

The boot options of the Live DVD are hidden by default, so you will have to press a key on your keyboard during the 10-second timeout. From the boot menu, you can start the live system with normal options, in compatibility mode, or in recovery mode.

Additionally, it is also possible to boot an existing operating system from the local disk drive, check the integrity of the bootable medium (only if booting from a DVD disc), reboot or shutdown the PC.

Traditional desktop environment based on LXDE and Xfce

As mentioned, the unique desktop environment of MakuluLinux LxFce is based on elements from the lightweight Xfce and LXDE desktop interfaces. The layout is traditional and consists of a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen. A custom Start Menu is provided too.

Default applications

The LxFce edition of MakuluLinux includes various open source applications, among which we can mention the Mozilla Firefox web browser, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, Steam for Linux client, Deluge torrent downloader, WPS office suite, Xfburn CD/DVD burning software, Audacious audio player, and VLC Media Player.
