MakuluLinux Enlightenment

MakuluLinux Enlightenment is an open source and totally free operating system based on Ubuntu and built around the very attractive and modern Enlightenment desktop environment. It is designed from the ground up to be low on resources, while still offering amazing desktop effects and powerful apps.

Distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD

The Enlightenment edition of MakuluLinux is distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD ISO image of approximately 2GB in size, designed to support both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures. 

Boot options

The Live DVD's boot menu includes the following options: boot MakuluLinux with default parameters, in text-mode, with "no modeset," copy to RAM, with "no probe," boot another Linux OS with UnionFS, run a memory test, boot from the first disk, or access the help menu.

Astonishing desktop environment with the Buuf icon theme and spectacular effects

As expected, the user will be dropped to a login prompt where he or she must use the "makulu" username and password (without quotes) to log into the Enlightenment desktop environment, which uses a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen.

While the taskbar has been implemented to make the operating system look more traditional and professional, anyone knows that in Enlightenment you can access the main menu and launch applications by right-clicking anywhere on the desktop.

Includes applications for daily tasks

Default applications include the Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, Pinta digital painting tool, GIMP image editor, flareGet download manager, Chromium web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, Audacious music player, VLC Media Player, Kingsoft office suite, Synaptic Package Manager, Steam for Linux client, PlayOnLinux Wine front-end, and Thunar file manager.
