Linux AIO Ubuntu (formerly Ubuntu AIO DVD) is an open source and freely distributed software product that provides users with a special distribution of Linux which includes multiple editions of the world's most popular operating system, Ubuntu.

Availability, supported platforms and boot options

The distribution is available for download as Live DVD ISO images, which can be burned onto blank DVD discs or USB flash drives of 4GB or higher capacity. It can run on either 64-bit or 32-bit hardware platforms, depending on the Ubuntu flavor used. An EFI image is also available for download, along with a special Mix DVD that combines the 32-bit and 64-bit flavors.

It features a beautiful boot prompt that is powered by GRUB2 and lets users to boot one of the following official Ubuntu editions: Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu and Ubuntu GNOME. In addition, it allows users to start an existing operating system from the first disk drive.

Five Ubuntu releases under a single roof

As mentioned, the project includes five different Ubuntu editions. They are, in the order provided on the boot menu, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Desktop amd64, Kubuntu 14.04 LTS Desktop amd64, Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS Desktop amd64, Xubuntu 14.04 LTS Desktop i386, and Lubuntu 14.04 LTS Desktop i386.

When pressing Enter on one of the aforementioned entries, on the boot prompt, it will immediately start the respective Ubuntu Linux distribution, just like if you were using a dedicated Live DVD with that particular operating system.

This means that each entry will have its own boot prompt, from where users can start the live environment, install the distribution on a local disk drive, run a memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot another operating system.

Bottom line

In conclusion, Linux AIO Ubuntu is a really great product specifically designed for anyone who ever dreamed of having some of the most popular official Ubuntu editions on a single and portable DVD disc or USB thumb drive.
