LEARNIX is a Linux distribution which runs off CD-ROM, a Live CD. That means there is no longer the need to install LINUX on a computer to be able to run powerful UNIX software.
LEARNIX is based on KNOPPIX with added software for building simulations, namely RADIANCE and ESP-r.
LEARNIX is compiled by the Low Energy Architecture Research uNit, LEARN, of the London Metropolitan University.
Requirements:
- Intel-compatible CPU (i486 or later),
- at least 96 MB for graphics mode with KDE (the more, the better),
- bootable CD-ROM drive, or a boot floppy and standard CD-ROM (IDE/ATAPI or SCSI),
- standard SVGA-compatible graphics card,
- serial or PS/2 standard mouse or IMPS/2-compatible USB-mouse.
