IprediaOS Live Desktop

IprediaOS Live Desktop is a the first of two operating systems designed with Internet anonymity in mind. This edition is built around the GNOME desktop environment and includes a wide range of GNOME-specific applications. The OS is derived from the popular Fedora Linux distribution.

Available only as a 32-bit Live CD ISO image

While the distribution is available only as a 32-bit Live CD ISO image, it will run well on both 32-bit (i686) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms. It’s a multilingual operating system distributed with separate Live ISOs for the English, German, French, Russian and Swedish languages.

Boot screen à la Fedora Linux

As mentioned, the distro is based on Fedora Linux. Therefore, it borrows its boot screen, which allows you to start the live system with default boot options. It is also possible to run a memory test, boot from local drive, and start the live session in safe graphics mode by accessing the Troubleshooting section.

The graphical desktop environment is modern, powered by GNOME

GNOME is used as the default and only graphical desktop environment for this operating system, providing users with a pure GNOME Shell desktop experience. No extra extensions or tweaks have been applied to it.

It uses I2P to protect your anonymity online

Wireshark network scanner, XChat IRC client, Sound Juicer Audio-CD ripper and encoder, Totem movie player, Orca screen reader and magnifier, Gedit text editor, Evolution email and calendar client, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Deja Dup backup tool. It uses I2P to protect your anonymity online.

Bottom line

Summing up, IprediaOS Live Desktop is a pretty standard “Fedora with GNOME” distribution of Linux, except for the fact that it includes less applications, but implements support for the I2P anonymous peer-to-peer (P2P) distributed communication layer, which is used to keep your anonymity online when surfing the Internet.

• A blank CD or DVD or a blank 1GB+ USB stick (or a virtualization product like VirtualBox)
• A 400MHz or faster processor
• At least 768 MB memory (RAM), 1 GB recommended for best performance
• At least 10 GB hard drive space (only required for installation)
