TUIO is an open standard for implementing and supporting multi-touch events on the Web.
At its core, Caress is a toolkit, actually a Node.js server, for supporting TUIO events on non-mobile browsers.
It does this by mapping TUIO (multi-touch) events to simple touch events which normal desktop browsers can understand and render on the page.
In an additional point of view, Caress can also be used to translate touch events from the TUIO standard to the W3C Touch Events version 2 standard.
