AlbatrOS Is an open source distribution of Linux designed from the ground up to be used for transforming a computer with semi-old hardware components into a reliable and powerful game console center.
Availability, boot options, supported platforms and languages
The distribution is available for download as a single Live CD ISO images tagged with the x86 (32-bit) instruction set architecture and designed to be deployed to either CD discs or USB flash drives. However, it can also be used on 64-bit machines.The boot prompt has been designed in such a way that it allows users to run the operating system as a Live CD or a Live USB, depending on the media used. In addition, it features two strange modes that will download some scripts to fix various issues.
Before entering the live session, users will be prompted by a language selection dialog that allows them to choose from English, Spanish and French languages.
Lightweight desktop environment, very minimal set of apps
LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) is in charge of the graphical session, providing users with a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen, from where they can access the main menu, launch applications, switch between virtual workspaces, as well as to interact with running programs.Default applications include the Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox web browsers, Audacious audio player, PCManFM file manager, GPicView image viewer, Leafpad text editor, and LXTerminal terminal emulator.
