ADMOS

ADMOS is a bootable Live CD Linux operating system based on the highly acclaimed Ubuntu distribution and designed to provide you with a complete graphical desktop environment and only libre software. It is actually a minimal flavor of the Lubuntu Linux OS, using LXDE as its default and only desktop environment.

Distributed as a dual-arch Live CD

This custom Ubuntu flavor can be downloaded via Softoware or from its official website (see link above) as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image of approximately 300MB in size, suitable for either 32-bit or 64-bit computers. Please note that it must be written on a CD disc or USB flash drive in order to be booted from the BIOS of a PC.

Boot options

There’s only a text-mode boot menu of this Live CD, from where the user must press Enter or type ‘live’ to start the live environment with default boot options, type ‘xforcevesa’ to boot the live session in safe graphics mode, type ‘install’ to start the installer directly, type ‘check’ to verify the CD for errors, type ‘memtest’ to run a RAM test, and type ‘hd’ to boot from the first disk drive.

Lightweight desktop environment and applications

As mentioned, the default and only desktop environment of this OS is powered by LXDE, which provides users with a main panel located on the bottom edge of a screen and a file explorer. It includes lightweight applications, such as the Leafpad text editor and Midori web browser, as well as a graphical package manager.
