Bitlr

While Bit.ly is not as used as it once used to be, it is still a reliable service for shortening longer URLs into a more easy, tweetable, and digestible version.

The Bitlr jQuery plugin is an unofficial jQuery client for the Bit.ly API that allows developers to shorten long URLs into a shorter form.

This is done via simple HTTP API requests, and the result is retrieved, processed, and displayed on the page as soon as possible.

A fully-working Bitlr example is included with the plugin package.

Requirements:

• JavaScript enabled on client side
• jQuery
• Bit.ly API keys

Limitations:

• Only supports the link shortening operation. No support for Bit.ly link expansions.
