Manjaro Netbook Edition is a community-operated and open source Linux distribution based on the well known Manjaro operating system. It is tailored for netbook computers and uses a highly modified version of the lightweight Xfce desktop environment, designed to be used on the small screen of netbook computers.
It’s distributed as two Live CDs
Even if it’s distributed as two Live CD ISO images, one for modern 64-bit PCs and another one for old 32-bit machines, most netbook users should download the latter. It can be deployed on a USB stick and installed on your netbook computer. It uses an optimized 32-bit only Manjaro kernel based on the kernel-netbook project and designed to support most netbooks that were released until today.
Uses a modified version of the Xfce desktop environment
As mentioned before, the session is powered by the lightweight Xfce desktop environment, modified in such a way to provide an accessible, modern and usable user interface for netbook computers. DockBarX is used as the main panel, placed by default on the left side of the screen. It can be used to launch applications, manage running apps, as well as to access the main system functions and other installed programs.
The applications are modified for small screens
All applications will be opened in full screen by default. Among some of them, we can mention the Thunar file manager, Midori web browser, Xfce Terminal, and many others that will increase your productivity.
Several other Manjaro editions are available for download
Manjaro Linux is a free Linux distribution based on the Arch Linux operating system and distributed in multiple editions, Xfce, KDE, Openbox, GNOME, MATE, Cinnamon, and Enlightenment. A minimalist edition of Manjaro Linux Xfce also exists.
Bottom line
If you own a netbook computer, then you should definitely download and install the Netbook Edition of Manjaro Linux. It will transform it into a modern, rolling-release and portable Linux powered machine.
