Bitnami Cloud Tools for Windows Azure is a free, self-contained, easy-to-install, easy-to-use and multiplatform software project that contains Windows Azure command-line utilities, as well as pre-configured versions of the Python programming language and Node.js JavaScript platform.
What’s in the package?
The Bitnami Cloud Tools for Windows Azure software includes various tools that will help you get started with the Microsoft Azure cloud platform in minutes. It comes with the Azure-cli for Node.js, Azure-sdk for Node.js and Azure-sdk for Python tools.
Supported OSes and platforms
The Bitnami Cloud Tools for Windows Azure product is distributed as native installer, which have been built using BitRock’s cross-platform installer tool, designed for all GNU/Linux distributions, as well as for Apple’s Mac OS X and Microsoft’s Windows platforms. Both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms are supported at this time.
Installing Bitnami Cloud Tools for Windows Azure
To install Bitnami’s cloud tools for the Windows Azure cloud platform, you will have to first download the package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture, make the file executable by running the 'chmod +x bitnami-cloudtools-azure-x.x-x-linux-installer.run' command (without quotes) in a terminal emulator, where x.x-x is the version number.
Then you must double-click the file, or invoke it directly from the terminal emulator, and follow the instructions displayed on the screen. Please note that Mac OS X and Windows user will only have to double-click the file to install it.
Getting Started with Cloud Tools for Windows Azure
To get started with Bitnami’s Cloud Tools for Windows Azure, you will have to run the “azure-shell.sh” command (without quotes) to start the installer, as well as the “azure account download” command (without quotes) to import your Windows Azure account. Please note that you must have a valid Microsoft Azure account to use this product.
Next, you must download your 'publishsettings' file from the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and import your Windows Azure account, simply by executing the “azure account import publishsettings_file” command (without quotes). Please make sure that your credential are in the .azure folder, which is hidden by default, then remove the 'publishsettings' file.
