Under the hood, Casein is very different from other similar solutions, mainly because it needs to run on top of Ruby on Rails instead of the classic LAMP stack.
Casein is also frontend-agnostic, meaning it can easily be added to practically any RoR project and provide a simple to use content management interface.
This is achieved via Casein's visual interface, an admin panel from where technical and non-technical users alike can build and manage their sites using simple controls.
This administration panel is nothing more than a simple CRUD interface for editing the Rails project's data, and can be used with pre-exisiting projects or rolled out as a standalone Ruby CMS and build new websites from scratch.
The recent 5.x branch of Casein also supports mobile devices, mainly because the Casein backend was developed using the famous Bootstrap responsive UI framework.
In case you don't meet Casein 5.x minimum requirements, check out the 2.x and 3.x branches that provide support for older versions of RoR and Ruby.
