Mjpeg Tools is an open source command-line software that contains a set of utilities for Linux distributions. It is designed to allow users to record videos, playback videos, do cut/paste editing of video files, and do MPEG compression of audio and video files.

Mjpeg Tools can also be used to edit, playback and compress MJPEG streams that were created and modified with the Broadcast 2000 software, which has been removed from public access.

The software supports video recording using the Zoran-based capture cards, such as the Buz (Iomega), Matrox Marvel, LML33 (Linux Media Labs), and DC10 (MIRO, Pinnacle) ones.

What is new in this release:

  • There are some fixes included since the last release candidate. The tarball is the same version as you can get from the CVS, the compiled RPM is a x64 package compiled on a opensuse 12.3, so is "should" work on x64 distributions too. If you want to provide a version for a different operation system, just let us know. We will put it online than.

What is new in version 1.9.0:

  • This version is very close to 1.9.0rc4.
