VESTA

VESTA is an open source distribution of Linux based on the Kubuntu flavor of the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu, and designed from the offset to be used by developers who want to built applications in the Java programming languages.

It is distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD

The distro is available for download from Softoware as a dual-arch Live DVD ISO image that has approximately 4.6GB in size and runs on computers supporting the 32-bit architecture or the 64-bit hardware platform. The ISO image will fit on a dual-layer DVD disc, but it is recommended to deploy it on a USB flash drive of 8GB or higher capacity.

Offers standard boot options

The distribution offers standard boot options, inspired by those from the Kubuntu Linux operating system. When booting the Live DVD ISO image from the BIOS of a computer, the user will be able to start the live system with normal configuration or in safe graphics mode, run a memory test, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the local drive.

Traditional desktop environment written in Java

Apparently, the distribution uses an in-house built graphical desktop environment written entirely in the Java programming language. It uses a traditional layout, comprised of a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen, from where the user can access the main menu and launch applications, interact with running programs, as well as with essential system functions.

Contains a collection of programming tools aimed at Java development

As expected, the most important feature of the VESTA Linux distribution is the great collection of programming tools aimed at Java development. You will be able to find compilers, emulators and all sorts of useful utilities that help you develop interactive and modern Java applications for GNU/Linux and other operating systems.
