TurnKey Sahana Eden Live CD is a freely distributed and open source project that provides users with an easy-to-use and powerful appliance for effortlessly deploying dedicated servers with the Sahana Eden software.
It is based on the stable and reliable Debian GNU/Linux operating system. Sahana Eden is an open source EDEN (Emergency Development ENvironment) software that handles rapid deployment of humanitarian response management.
Key features include upstream Sahana Eden configurations, which are installed by default in /var/www/sahana-eden, ability to serve web2py apps with WSGI on Apache, as well as the ability to serve the admin console on a secure connection via SSL.
In addition, the appliance includes a Postfix MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) for sending email messages to users, out-of-the-box support for secure connections using the SSL specification, and several Webmin modules for configuring the MySQL, Postfix and Apache servers.
While the default username for the MySQL, Webmin and SSH components is root, the default Web2Py username is admin. Keep in mind that the first Sahana Eden registered user will become the admin of the entire system.
The appliance is distributed as Live CD ISO images, which can be downloaded from the dedicated section (see above) for the 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. Additionally, various virtual images in the OpenVZ, OVF, OpenNode, Xen and OpenStack formats are available for download from the project's homepage.
The Live CDs can be deployed to either CD discs or USB thumb drives, and used for trying the appliance without installing anything on your computer, as well as to directly install the operating system on a local disk drive using the text-mode installer.
During the first boot configuration process, users can set the password for the root (system administrator) account, as well as a new password for the MySQL 'root' account. It is also possible to enable the TurnKey hub services and view the active services (don't forget to write down the IP addresses and ports).
