Shinken

Shinken is a new monitoring tool, compatible with Nagios, and written in Python. The main goal of Shinken is to allow users to have a fully flexible architecture for their monitoring system that can easily scale to large environments. It’s as simple as in all the marketing “cloud computing” slides, but here, it’s real!

Shinken is backwards-compatible with the Nagios configuration standard and plugins. It works on any operating system and architecture that supports Python, which includes Windows and Mac OS X/Darwin.

What is new in version 1.2:

• This release adds multi-layer discovery, adds a new configuration UI (sKonf) based on this discovery feature, and adds a dashboard to the WebUI interface.

• This version adds many ready to run templates to start monitoring (Linux, Windows, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Exchange, etc.).
• It also adds Android compatibility so you can set up an SMS gateway easily: you can send and also raise acknowledgements on received SMS messages.

• This version adds an update from 0.6 and runs with pyro 4.10 lib.
