Robolinux KDE is an open source, beautifully designed, and freely distributed live and installable computer operating system derived from the highly acclaimed Debian GNU/Linux distribution and built around the famous and modern KDE Software Compilation (SC) 4 graphical desktop environment.

Distributed as 32 and 64-bit editions

The KDE edition of Robolinux comes in two editions, for low-end 32-bit computers and modern machines that support the 64-bit instruction set architecture. Both ISO images have approximately 2 GB in size each, deployable on either DVD discs or USB flash drives of 2GB or higher capacity. They include a minimal boot menu that allows users to run the operating system in live mode without installing anything on their computers, as well as to directly start the installer.

As mentioned, the distribution is built around the KDE desktop environment, which has been designed from the ground up to look astonishing, with a transparent taskbar at the bottom edge of the screen and a very clean layout with an amazing wallpaper. Please note that you will have to login with the “live” username and “live” password when running in live mode.

As expected for a 2GB+ distribution, Robolinux KDE includes all the applications you’ll ever need, such as the Mozilla Firefox web browser, digiKam photo management program, DNGConverter DNG image converter, GIMP image editor, LibreOffice office suite, Skype VoIP client, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, Google Chrome web browser, Amarok audio player, KTorrent BitTorrent downloader, Audacity audio editor, and ISO Master ISO image editor.

What is new in version 7.9.1:

• For the last three months Robolinux has been building an arsenal of privacy and security applications into all eight of its operating systems. These new versions are a direct result of our Users asking for more privacy and security apps. Robolinux Version 7.9.1 also added rcconf which allows you to remove any unecessary memory resident services from running when you boot up Robolinux. The result is Linux will run even faster. In addition Version 7.9.1 also has the newest VirtualBox 4.3.26 & Firefox 37.0.1 as well as a new upstream kernel and all security updates.
