KSuse GNOME is a free and open source distribution of Linux derived from the well known and widely used openSUSE operating system, oriented towards Korean-speaking users. It is crafted with the SUSE Studio tool and built around the controversial GNOME desktop environment.
Distributed as a 32-bit Live DVD
The GNOME edition of KSuse is distributed as a bootable Live DVD ISO image that has approximately 1.3 GB in size and can be easily written on a DVD disc or a USB thumb drive. It includes software packages optimized only for 32-bit instruction set architectures, but it boots on both x86_64 and x86 machines.
Boot menu à la openSUSE
Being derived from the openSUSE Linux distribution, KSuse inherits its boot menu for the Live DVD, which allows users to boot the live system with normal settings or in failsafe mode, start an existing OS from the local drive, perform a system memory diagnostic test, change the language, switch to a different video mode, as well as to add extra parameters to the kernel.
GNOME is the default graphical environment
As mentioned, this KSuse edition uses GNOME as the default and only desktop environment, based on the controversial GNOME Shell user interface. It offers a modern layout with a panel on top of the screen from where you can access the activities, calendar and system tray area. The activities view gives users instant access to pre-installed apps and allows them to interact with running programs, as well as to quickly cycle between virtual workspaces.
Default applications
Default applications include the LibreOffice office suite, Chromium web browser, FileZilla file transfer client, Mozilla Thunderbird e-mail and news client, Tomboy note-taking tool, Gedit text editor, Nautilus file manager, GNOME Terminal and XTerm terminal emulators, YaST control center, as well as Wine for installing Windows apps and games.
