HP-HW-RAID is nothing more than just a simple and efficient Hobbit extension to monitor hardware raid on HP ProLiant servers such as ProLiant DL, BL or ML. It has been written in bash, tested on recent linux distro and could be setup in less then 3min.
This script auto detect the amount of RAID Controller on the machine and the amount of plugged hard drive. The hobbit RAID icon switch to RED is the disk(s) is(are) down(aka hardwaredrive) or/and the RAID (aka logicaldrive) is rebuilding.
Installation:
1/ Put script 'hphwraid.sh' in client hobbit '${BBHOME}/ext/'
2/ Edit your client configutation file '/etc/clientlaunch.cfg' and add :
[hpraid]
ENVFILE $HOBBITCLIENTHOME/etc/hobbitclient.cfg
CMD $HOBBITCLIENTHOME/ext/hphwraid.sh
LOGFILE $HOBBITCLIENTHOME/logs/hphwraid.log
INTERVAL 5m
3/ Provide privileges at the hobbit user to run the hpaucli command via "sudo"
root# visudo
Add this at the end of the file
hobbit ALL= NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/hpacucli
hobbit ALL= NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/pkill -9 .hpacucli
and comment this :
#Default requiretty
4/ On server, edit your '${BBHOME}/etc/bb-hosts' and add the keyword 'hpraid' on host you want to monitor
0.0.0.0 hostname_HP # conn ssh hpraid NAME:"My Server HP1" CLIENT:hostame_HP.my.domain
5/ Et voila; the 'HPRAID' column should appear in less then 20min.
