Guadalinex

Guadalinex is a Linux operating system that contains a set of open source and free applications which will transform your computer into a powerful, productive and secure system powered by the Cinnamon desktop environment and the latest upstream Ubuntu release.

Distributed as a 32-bit Live DVD

You can download Guadalinex from its official website or via Softoware (see link above) as a single Live DVD ISO images tagged only for the 32-bit architecture, which means that you can only install 32-bit applications. The ISO has approximately 1GB in size, can be deployed to either USB flash drives or DVD discs, and can also be used on machines that support the 64-bit instruction set architecture.

Boot options

The default language on the Live DVD is Spanish, but you can easily change it to one of the other 70 languages. Being based on Ubuntu, it features a boot menu that it similar with the one used on the main Ubuntu edition, allowing you to try the distro without installing it, directly start the graphical installer, test the RAM for errors, and boot an existing OS from the first disk.

Modern and attractive desktop environment powered by Cinnamon

The default and only graphical desktop interface of this Ubuntu-based operating system is Cinnamon, comprised of a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen and designed to allow the user to quickly and easily launch applications or interact with running programs.

Includes some of the best open source applications

Some of the best open source applications are included in this distro, among which we can mention the Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, Transmission torrent downloader, GNOME Paint image editor, gThumb image viewer, and the entire LibreOffice office suite.

In conclusion, Guadalinex is a great distribution of Linux that features a modern and productive desktop environment, a great selection of applications and the latest Ubuntu technologies. It’s a free project initiated and maintained by the government of Andalucía (Junta de Andalucía) in Spain, in order to implement the 72/2003 decree.
