DevilzArch is a free and open source distribution of Linux derived from the lightweight and powerful Arch Linux operating system. It is a Live Linux distro designed with a single goal in mind, to help newcomers easily install the highly acclaimed Arch Linux distribution on their personal computers. It uses a highly customized version of the Xfce desktop environment.
Distributed as a 32-bit Live CD
The DevilzArch distro is currently distributed as a Live CD ISO image that includes software packages optimized only for the 32-bit instruction set architectures, despite the fact that it displays a 64-bit (x86_64) boot entry. However, the ISO image is bootable on 64-bit computers, but you will only be able to use 32-bit apps.Boot options
From the Live CD boot menu, which is identical in look and functionality with the one of the Arch Linux operating system, the user can start the live system with 32-bit (i686) support, boot an existing operating system, run a memory diagnostic test, view detailed information about your computer’s hardware components, as well as to reboot or shutdown the machine.Xfce is in charge of the graphical environment
By default, when booting the live system, users will be dropped to a shell prompt, where they have to type the “startx” command (without quotes), in order to start the graphical environment, which is powered by Xfce, a lightweight desktop environment that uses a single-panel layout.Includes a minimal set of open-source apps
Various open-source application have been pre-installed in the DevilzArch distribution, but way too few too to be used as a day-to-day operating system. Among these, we can mention the Mozilla Firefox web browser, Thunar file manager, Zenmap network scanner, Leafpad text editor, Bulk Rename batch file renaming utility, as well as the XTerm, Xfce Terminal and UXTerm terminal emulators. What is new in this release:
- Now users need to type in "startx" at the command boot to login into the UI.
- Audio has been fixed and Icon Placements have been changed.
- Installer is still being worked on.
- Theme Replaced.
- Faster boot up.
- Extra Tweak Modules added.
- Works on ram as low as 256 MB.
