DeLi(cate) is a delicate, clean, lean, fast, lightweight, open-source and completely free Linux kernel-based operating system forked from the DeLi Linux distribution and designed to be installed on computers with old and very old hardware components and low RAM (system memory).
It’s distributed as a dual-arch Live CD
Despite the fact that it has been crafted to work on very old and low RAM computers, the distribution is available for download via Softoware or directly from its official website (see link above) as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image that supports both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms.
Minimal boot menu powered by GRUB
The boot menu of the Live CD includes the ability to start the operating system in live mode, without installing anything on your computer’s disk drive, boot an existing OS that is installed on the first drive detected by the BIOS, and perform a system memory diagnostic test.
You can use it as a system rescue CD
The main functionality of the live system is focused only on system rescue and recovery operations. If you want to install the operating system on your computer, use the “setup” or “deliinstall” commands on the shell prompt.
It includes a wide range of built-in commands
Arrived at the shell prompt, the user can type the “help” command (without quotes) to view a list of available commands. Among these, we can mention alias, bg, break, cd, chdir, continue, echo, eval, exec, exit, export, false, fg, hash, jobs, kill, let, local, pwd, read, readonly, return, set, shift, source, test, times, trap, true, type, ulimit, umask, unalias, unset and wait.
The entire installation process is text based
Unfortunately, the entire installation process is text based and requires users to choose a keyboard layout, partition the disk, as well as to install the base system and a bootloader.
