CMDann Ubuntu Live

CMDann Ubuntu Live is an open-source and freely distributed operating system based on the world’s most popular distribution of Linux, Ubuntu, and built around the Unity and GNOME (with GNOME Shell) graphical desktop interfaces.

Distributed as a single Live DVD for mainstream architectures

This Ubuntu remix comes with a single Live DVD ISO image that weighs in about 900 Megabytes. It is a dual-arch ISO that supports mainstream architectures, 64-bit (x86_64) and 32-bit (i386).

You can try the distribution before installing it

When booting CMDann Ubuntu Live from the BIOS of a computer, you will encounter a boot prompt that will automatically load the live system in about seven seconds, asking you if you want to try the distribution before installing it or start the installer directly.

As usual, there are various options on the boot prompt and you can access them by pressing any keyboard key during the 7-second timeout mentioned above. Among them, we can mention the ability to start the live environment or only the graphical installer directly, test the RAM for errors or boot from the local drive.

The default graphical desktop environment is GNOME, with GNOME Shell

As mentioned, the distro includes two modern, beautiful, attractive and productive graphical desktop interfaces, Unity and GNOME (with GNOME Shell). The latter is the default one when booting from the Live DVD. To change between them, logout from the GNOME session and choose Unity from the login prompt.

Includes standard GNOME/Ubuntu applications

CMDann Ubuntu Live includes standard GNOME/Ubuntu applications, such as the Transmission torrent downloader, Shotwell image viewer and organizer, Rhythmbox music player, Totem movie player, Gedit text editor, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Evolution email and calendar client, Ekiga softphone, Empathy IM client and Cheese webcam viewer.

In addition, it also comes with the AbiWord word processor, Inkscape vector graphics editor, VLC Media Player, GIMP image editor, Gnumeric spreadsheet editor, Liferea news reader, Chromium web browser and Synaptic Package Manager.
