Brasa OS is an open-source and completely free distribution of Linux derived from the award-winning and highly acclaimed Debian GNU/Linux operating system and built around the lightweight Openbox window manager. It aims to be a very minimal and ultra fast OS for slow computers.
It supports both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms
The operating system has been designed from the ground up to work on both the 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) computers, which means that it is available for download as separate, yet minimal ISO images of approximately 10MB in size each. The ISO image features a standard Debian bootloader
When booting the ISO image from the BIOS of a computer, the user will encounter a standard Debian bootloader, which includes the ability to start the installer and permanently install the operating system on a local drive. In addition, it is possible to access advanced options, such as the expert or automated installation, a rescue mode, as well as to choose different desktop environments like KDE, LXDE and Xfce.
It can only be installed on a local drive and features a text-mode installer
The entire installation process is text-based and requires you to choose a language and keyboard layout, configure the network, choose a mirror of the Debian archive that is close to you, enter a password for the root (system administrator) account, set up users and passwords, select a timezone, partition the diskMinimal graphical interface powered by Openbox
Being designed with minimalism in mind, the distribution uses Openbox as its default and only desktop environment for a standard installation. To launch applications in Openbox, you must use the right-click context menu.As mentioned, it is possible to choose a different, more complex desktop environment by selecting the KDE, LXDE or Xfce options from the Advanced options entry of the bootloader.
