B Linux OS is an open source and freely distributed operating system based on the Linux Mint KDE edition and boasting a highly customized version of the KDE Plasma Workspaces and Application graphical environment.
Availability and boot options
The project is distributed as a single and hybrid Live DVD ISO image that can be written to a blank DVD disc, as well as on a 2GB or large USB flash drive. It has been designed from the ground up to support only 64-bit hardware platforms. The main language is English, and users can start the live environment with default settings or in safe graphics mode directly from the boot medium, which also allows them to start an existing operating system, run a memory test, or install the distribution without testing it (not recommended).
Top-notch desktop environment and apps
Booting into the graphical session will take a couple of minutes when using a USB stick. As mentioned, it uses the KDE desktop environment, but the distribution adds a dock (application launcher) and moves the taskbar on the upper part of the screen.Default applications include LibreOffice office suite, Okular document viewer, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Amarok music player, VLC Media Player, Avidemux video editor, MyPaint digital painting tool, B OS music player, GIMP image editor, and Empathy multi-protocol instant messenger.
In addition, it comes with a wide range of specific KDE apps, such as Konversation IRC client, K3b CD/DVD burning software, KPPP dial-up connection manager, Akregator news reader, KTorrent torrent downloader, KRDC remote desktop client, Gwenview image viewer, digiKam photo manager, and others.
