Warzone 2100 Legacy is a version of the open source Warzone 2100 Real Time Strategy game with the main intention of providing a modern version of Warzone 2100 that plays like 2.3 and the retail 1.10 as much as possible, while enhancing the engine, game backend, networking code, interface, and other underlying pieces of code, and adding useful features that don't affect gameplay significantly, such as fully functioning, integrated spectator support, by far the greatest and best feature of the game other than it's comforting, well polished gameplay experience. Warzone 2100 Legacy has a quickly growing community and, of course, excellent multiplayer support. It also supports Linux, BSD, and other flavors of UNIX operating systems.
Warzone 2100 Legacy has a path that is nearly etched in stone; to provide a superior gameplay experience and interface while preserving most aspects of the experience that has been present in Warzone 2100 for fourteen years. Many things about the inner workings of the game have changed, but some things regarding the heritage of the game should be preserved for history's sake, hence the name Legacy.
