QtMind is an open source, free and cross-platform graphical software crafted as a clone of the famous Mastermind game, but for computers. It comes with a built-in solver and supports all the mainstream operating systems.

What is Mastermind?

Mastermind is a real-life multiplayer board game, a code breaking game that is played by two people. QtMind emulates this board game and allows users to play as a codebreaker or a codemaker. Please read the official documentation for Game Rules.

Includes a wide range of algorithms

The software includes a wide range of solving algorithms, among which we can mention Expected Size, Most Parts, as well as Donald Knuth's Worst Case. Additionally, it features two game modes, Machine vs Human and Human vs Machine, indicators, support for 4 languages (English, Dutch, Czech and Arab), support for 2, 3, 4 or 5 slots, and up to ten colors for pieces.

Under the hood and supported OSes

QtMind is a written entirely in the C++ programming language and uses the cross-platform Qt GUI toolkit for its graphical user interface. It is compatible with several GNU/Linux distributions, including Arch Linux, Ubuntu, Debian, Gentoo, openSUSE and Fedora, as well as with the Microsoft Windows, OS/2 and Android operating systems.

Getting started with QtMind

The application is available for download as pre-built binary packages for the aforementioned Linux kernel-based OSes, as well as a universal sources archive that allows you to optimize the app for your Linux system. Both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures are supported at this time.

QtMind can also be easily installed from the default software repositories of several GNU/Linux distribution. After installation, you can run the application from the main menu of your desktop environment. An initial game, is already started, so you can begin places your pegs on rows.
