FuguIta is an open source Live CD BSD operating system based on the highly acclaimed and powerful OpenBSD distribution, which in turn is based on the well known FreeBSD project.
Key features include similar to HDD installation, portable workplace, low hardware requirements, additional software packages from ports, Japanese-oriented software and fonts, based on the latest stable version of OpenBSD.
Uses the old-school IceWM window manager
It's a very small BSD distribution that uses the lightweight and old-school IceWM window manager as its default desktop environment. It is distributed as an archived ISO image that can be written to a USB thumb drive or burned onto a CD disc.
As mentioned, this is a Live CD BSD distribution that can be used as-is using one of the aforementioned bootable mediums. If you want to use with a uniprocessor kernel, type bsd-fi at the boot prompt. If not, just wait 10 seconds or hit Enter to start the live environment.
Getting started with FuguIta
Users will be asked to choose a disk drive, how much memory to use, and a boot mode, such as copy to RAM, lower memory, user data retriever modes from USB or floppy, an interactive shell for debugging, and a normal mode.
In addition, you will also have to select a keyboard layout, choose a root (system administrator) password, specify a hostname, select how many IP versions to use, select a network interface, enable FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) and setup DNS.
When the boot process is complete, you will be dropped to a shell prompt where you have to login with the username root and the password created during the system's startup. Type startx to enter the graphical environment powered by IceWM.
Bottom line
Summing up, Fugulta is a decent, old-school BSD distribution that is mainly useful to Japanese users who want a portable workplace that has very low hardware requirements. Fugulta means "Blowfish Disk" in Japanese.
