A simple HTTP link to Facebook (http://facebook.com/profile) can be converted to a specific URL scheme on mobile devices (fb://profile) which can be opened natively in the phone's designated Facebook app, instead of a browser.
The plugin works on a variety of mobile environments, and supports most of the iPhone URL Schemes.
