Ubuntu Christian Edition

Ubuntu Christian Edition is an open-source and completely free distribution of Linux based on the popular Ubuntu operating system and designed from the ground up to bring the power and security of Ubuntu to Christians.

Available for download as Live DVDs for mainstream architectures

The distribution can be downloaded by Christians as two Live DVD ISO images, one for each of the supported hardware platforms, 32-bit and 64-bit. It must be written to either DVD discs or USB thumb drives of 2GB or higher capacity.

The Live DVDs feature a boot menu à la Ubuntu Linux

Ubuntu’s boot menu has not been removed from this distribution and allows users to easily try the operating system without installing it, install the distro on a local disk drive, check the disk for defects (only if using a DVD media), test the memory for errors, as well as to boot from the local drive.

In addition, it is possible to change the language and keyboard layout, choose a different boot mode, select accessibility options, and add extra kernel parameters.

Unity is the default graphical desktop environment for Ubuntu Christian Edition

Ubuntu’s graphical desktop environment has also been included in this distribution, providing Christians with a modern and productive desktop that includes several religious applications.

Among the pre-installed apps, we can mention Xiphos Bible Guide, BibleTime free Bible study software, BibleMemorizer Scripture memorizer utility, Quelea free church projection software and Wide Margin open source bible program.
