Boot options

Default boot options include the ability to start the live environment with default boot options or in safe graphics mode, perform a system memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the first disk drive.

A distro built around Fluxbox

As mentioned the default and only desktop environment of this Debian-based operating system is Fluxbox, a minimal window manager that comprises of a single panel located on the upper side of the screen, from where the user can interact with running programs or cycle between virtual workspaces, and a system monitoring panel on the bottom edge of the screen.

Includes a minimal set of applications

Default applications include the Smxi scripts, Inxi, SpaceFM file manager, DeaDBeeF audio player, Iceweasel web browser, Vim and GTK Vim advanced text editors, Geany IDE, rxvt-unicode terminal emulator, Tmux terminal multiplexer, Midnight Commander two-pane file manager, File Roller archive manager, GParted partition editor, Irssi IRC client.

Bottom line

Summing up, Tux Hat Linux is a minimalistic distribution based on a rock-solid Debian base and geared towards geeks and command-line aficionados, as it features a very basic, yet fast window manager and a bunch of CLI tools.
