Linux Mangaka is an Austrian operating system derived from the Ubuntu Linux distribution and designed to be used by end-users on desktop computers. It uses a highly customized graphical session built around the GNOME desktop environment and modeled to look like a Windows interface.
It’s distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD
This Ubuntu-based distribution of Linux is available for download as a dual-arch and hybrid Live DVD ISO image, which has approximately 2.5 GB in size, supports 32-bit and 64-bit computers, and can be deployed to either a DVD disc or a USB flash drive of 4GB or higher capacity.
Boot menu à la Ubuntu Linux
Being based on Ubuntu Linux, the distribution inherits its boot menu, allowing the user to start the live system with normal configuration or in safe graphics mode, perform a system memory diagnostic test, boot an existing operating system from the local drive, start the installer directly, as well as to check the integrity of the bootable medium (only if using a DVD disc).
Cool, modern and familiar desktop interface
The Linux Mangaka’s default graphical session is built around the GNOME Classic desktop environment. It has been highly customized in order to provide users with a cool, modern and familiar desktop interface. It comprises of a taskbar (panel) located on the bottom edge of the screen, allowing the user to easily launch applications, interact with running programs, cycle between virtual workspaces, as well as to access important system functions.
Come pre-loaded with top-notch open source applications
Being distributed as a 2.5GB DVD, the Linux Mangaka distribution comes pre-loaded with top-notch open source applications, among which we can mention the Mozilla Firefox and Chromium web browsers, LibreOffice office suite, VLC Media Player, Pinta and GIMP image editors, as well as Inkscape vector graphics editor.
What is new in this release:
- After a month of development containing the last 64bit Linux image, various bug-fix and software implementation, we reached the final stage of our 2gb DVD of LINUX MANGAKA NYU in a focus of a real multimedia Linux distribution with almost needed contents for our Anime & Manga community in customization, tools, beauty, simplicity, free, lightweight. We made some graphical changes as well to look more professional and eye-caring. Feel free to try it using a LiveDVD or USB-Storage!
What is new in version 1.0:
- Well people, this time was only god and me working to release the Final edition with amount of bug fix and more software witch wasn't in the beta edition.
- It was added more design (wallpaper, logon), an upgrade to all packages, added some software like as comix, pysol, youtranslator, hipo, keytouch, keyboard layout selector... and an support for Japanese for those who is going to visit Japanese websites and has some files named on that language too.
Limitations:
- It is no longer under active development!
