jQuery browserEvent works with browser windows from the same manufacturer.
This means it won't synchronize data between an instance of a page opened in Google Chrome and one in Firefox.
Nevertheless the plugin can be very useful for situations where the user has opened a site or an app in multiple tabs, browserEvent allowing developers to automatically keep all their data in sync, even if one of the windows has not been refreshed lately.
A similar mechanism is now supported by most browsers through the SharedWorker feature.
This has made the plugin obsolete, but jQuery browserEvent might be used as a fallback or alternative system.
A demo is included with the download package.
